Would you bet your life on it?
Do you know the difference between "I think" versus "I know"?
When I say the word “conviction”, what does that mean to you?
Here’s what it means for me.
Conviction: The difference between saying “I think” and “I know”.
Now the second question.
Do you have conviction in everything you do, say, trust, or believe?
Let’s start with some non-sales lessons.
Crypto is skyrocketing in the market. It’s mainstream.
In fact, it has a trillion dollar market cap. Other companies with a trillion dollar market cap?
Nvidia
Apple
Microsoft
Alphabet
Amazon
Meta
Tesla
Berkshire Hathaway
People have created generational wealth by having conviction.
If you had conviction in “decentralized markets” you’d have generational wealth. You would have bought Bitcoin at sub $5,000 and “HODL” (Hold on for dear life).
Same with any of those other companies.
It takes conviction. You need to “know” so that “you act.”
What’s this got to do with sales?
Do you have conviction in your deals? And your pipeline?
I coach salespeople, leaders, CEOs, and Founders. I ask every single one of them the same question about the deal they’re describing to me.
“Would you bet your life on it? How about your loved ones?”
They never say yes. They always use qualifier words.
“Can’t ever be sure.”
“Why can’t you be sure? What would you need to know to bet your life on it?” is always my response.
We then work through a deal diagnostic and determine what questions we need to ask to get conviction in the deal.
My northstar as a coach is, “how do I get them to bet their life on every deal they have?”
That’s just the sales part.
I fight for the people I coach to find conviction in everything they do.
I left my job 10 days ago. People asked me, “Aren’t you scared?” “What are you going to do next?”
I answer the same exact way every single time.
“If I’m not willing to bet on myself, who else will?”
That is conviction.
“I don’t think” for a single second I’m going to be okay.
“I know” with 100% certainty that my life is going to be exponentially better because of it.
I’d bet my life on it.
How much conviction do you have in your pipeline? |
Until next week,
